A little later today, depending on whether the fire trucks are still up there or not, I'm gonna go survey the damage. And take pictures!
So, last night, a few friends and neighbors got evacuated from their houses up in the real danger zones on the hill, and came down to our house to watch the flames from a somewhat safer distance (Well...not exactly all that safer, but we actually weren't ordered to evacuate. We were just on the verge of.) Our neighbor from just down the street came up, too, as did Lisa. We decided to throw an impromptu fire party, and a few glasses/bottles of wine and beer were had. Woody was kept on a leash the whole time, JUST in case we needed to suddenly bolt. And we almost did--like I said in the last post when the fire nearly came down in back of the eucalyptus trees across the street. The only channel in the world who deemed us important enough to cover for three hours straight--KRON 4, was showing video of the fire from OUR YARD. But I saw no camera crews!
There goeth another fire truck outside...
A marin IJ guy came up to the house, too, actually, and asked us exactly what the dumbass chronicle guy started us off with: "Are you nervous?"
THERE'S A FUCKING FIRE ON THE HILL! NO, WE'RE NOT NERVOUS AT ALL! WE'RE PEACHY! HAVE SOME WINE!
Anyhow, I'm a little sad that I an known to the sf gate world as the wandering cat lady when I was also quoted as saying "I'm going to need a lot of beer after this". ...I guess that doesn't invoke as much sympathy?
